Website Audit: InStyle Beauty Salon & Barber

Site reviewed: instyle-salon.wixsite.com/instyle Prepared by: ZenMasterWorks Date: July 2026
Methodology & scope: This audit was built from publicly available information — the site's content as returned to a standard, non-JavaScript-executing fetch, plus a manual review of the live homepage. No production or staging access was requested or used.
Note on this one: Lynn gave me a place to sleep twenty-five years ago when I needed it. This is built on spec, no strings attached, ready whenever it's the right time to reconnect.
Findings

What stood out

Critical

The live site is a free Wix subdomain, not a real domain

The site lives at instyle-salon.wixsite.com/instyle rather than its own domain. Along with that comes a live Wix ad banner ("This website was built on Wix. Create yours today.") displayed at the top of the page for every visitor.

Critical

The services section still has unedited placeholder text

Under "Book Now," the actual live copy reads: "Describe your service here. What makes it great? Use short catchy text to tell people what you offer, and the benefits they will receive. A great description gets readers..." — default Wix template text that was never replaced with real service descriptions.

Critical

Site hasn't been updated since 2017

The footer reads "© 2017 by InStyle Beauty Salon and Barber" — roughly nine years without a refresh, despite active, ongoing reviews and clients on Yelp as recently as this year.

Medium

All navigation links point to the same page

HOME, SERVICES, SPECIALS, and CONTACT are listed as separate nav items but all link to the same homepage URL — the same pattern seen on other neglected small-business sites.

Low

No social presence beyond a single Yelp icon

For a beauty and hair salon — a visually-driven business — there's no Instagram or Facebook linked anywhere on the site, missing an easy, natural way to show off real work.

For Balance

What's genuinely working

Real, warm testimonials already sitting on the page — clients naming the owner directly and describing years of loyalty ("I've been a client of Lynh's for years... followed her from Command Performance"). That's the kind of trust most businesses have to work hard to manufacture.

Transparent, listed pricing for every core service — haircuts, color, nails, waxing — which is rare for a small salon and genuinely useful to a first-time visitor deciding whether to walk in.

A real, decades-long presence in the neighborhood — reviews spanning many years, a loyal following, and a walk-in-friendly, no-pressure reputation worth building the redesign around rather than replacing.

We put together a redesign concept alongside this audit

A real domain, real service descriptions, and a page that actually shows what twenty-plus years of loyal clients already say about the place.
