Website template licensing: what you can do today, and what is planned
Every ZenMasterWorks template comes with a simple license. This page says exactly what it covers, what it does not, and what we are planning for freelancers and agencies.
The short version
- Available now: one purchase covers one website per template, for your own site.
- Not covered today: using a template on websites you build for clients.
- Planned, not yet for sale: freelancer, small-agency and enterprise licenses, which you can request by email.
Available now
The license that comes with every download
One purchase covers one website per template. You can edit it freely for that site, and reselling or redistributing the template files is not allowed (see the templates). The terms of use say the same thing: products are licensed for use on the purchaser's own site only.
Individual template, $29
One website, for one template. Browse the templates.
Complete collection, $99
Every industry and platform-style template plus the setup guide, one website per template. How downloads work: they are open on an honor system, and buyers are asked to pay the listed price.
There is no subscription for current products.
Client work
What the current license does not cover
Because the license is for the purchaser's own site, it does not cover using a template on a website you build for someone else. If you are a freelancer or an agency, please do not rely on the single-site license for client projects. Ask for a commercial license instead.
Planned
Commercial licenses we are proposing
These tiers are proposals from our business plan. The prices are not market rates, they are not for sale yet, and there is no checkout for them.
Freelancer license, proposed $199 a year
Intended to allow use of the templates across a freelancer's client projects.
Small agency license, proposed $499 a year
Intended to allow use across an agency's client projects, so the agency does not buy single-site templates repeatedly.
Enterprise license, custom
For larger organizations. Scope and price are set by agreement.
For each tier, the exact scope (number of sites, term and any support) would be agreed in writing before any payment. Nothing on this page is a binding offer until then.

How to ask
Email zenmasterworks@gmail.com with the subject “Commercial license” and tell us who you are, roughly how many client sites you build a year and which templates you want to use. White-label and corporate arrangements are handled the same way, by invitation. We do not promise a reply time, and we do not take general service work (see our history).
