Named By Someone Else

Why we kept the name an AI gave our own problem.

AI Search & Citation Tracking

An AI called our problem "the discovery paradox." Here's why we kept it.

Short version: an AI tool told us to target publications to fix a "discovery paradox." We'd never heard the term, so before building a page around it, we checked whether it was real. It isn't — not in the SEO/AEO literature we could find. The underlying problem absolutely is real, though, and we had the data to prove it. So we said exactly that, in public, on the page itself.

The instinct to just... publish it

An AI assistant suggested the phrase "discovery paradox" as if it were established terminology, and the easy move would have been to build a page around it and let the phrase do some borrowed credibility work. That's exactly the move this site exists to catch other people making — publishing something with more apparent authority than it's actually earned.

So before writing a word of the new page, we searched for the phrase alongside SEO, AEO, and AI-search terminology. Nothing. It's not a term anyone in the industry uses. Worth saying that plainly, in public, on the page itself, rather than letting a confident-sounding phrase imply an authority it doesn't have.

The problem is real even though the name isn't borrowed

That's the important part. Checking the term didn't make the underlying pattern go away — it's sitting right there in this site's own numbers:

PageSpeed, every property, verified live
2 / 15

Relevant external results for our own domain name

Elite technical execution, near-zero external corroboration. That gap is real, measured, and checkable — it just needed the name honestly sourced — an AI's suggestion, checked rather than assumed, instead of one borrowed to sound more established.

An independent AI Mode review rated this site's technical core as elite across every model tested, then flagged off-page entity signals as the one real failure. Both findings are cited directly on the new page rather than summarized without support.

What comes next: an honest target list, not a trophy case

The fix for a discovery problem is discovery, not more on-page polish. We built a second page — a real, verified list of SEO, AEO, and web-performance publications worth targeting with actual case studies, once there's enough material to pitch confidently. Every entry was checked to confirm it's a real, currently active outlet, not assumed from the AI tool's original suggestion. And it says plainly, right on the page: zero placements exist as of today. That'll get updated the same honest way everything else on this site does — as it actually happens, not before.
